State Agency & Regulatory Framework
Ohio has no magnet fishing-specific statute. The Muskingum River Parkway — a system of 10 navigable locks and 11 dams managed by ODNR — provides unique inland river access. Ohio waterways have significant Civil War and industrial heritage; artifact awareness is particularly important along the Ohio River. Found property must be reported to local law enforcement under Ohio Revised Code § 2913.02 (avoiding unlawful retention of found property).
State Park Policy
Ohio State Parks (ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft) has not prohibited magnet fishing. Parks with fishing areas generally allow it in those areas. Contact specific parks for site rules.
Waterway Access & Navigability
Ohio's major navigable waterways include the Ohio River (southern border), Muskingum River, and Cuyahoga River. ODNR manages numerous inland lake access areas. The Army Corps' Pittsburgh and Huntington Districts manage the Ohio River system and its tributaries.
