State Agency & Regulatory Framework
North Dakota has no magnet fishing-specific statute. USACE reservoir recreation areas provide extensive public access; check with the Omaha District for specific project rules. North Dakota's found property law applies to recovered items of value. The state's Native American cultural heritage is significant — many waterways adjacent to tribal lands and former reservation areas may have NAGPRA-protected resources nearby.

North Dakota Parks and Recreation has not prohibited magnet fishing. Rules follow general outdoor recreation guidelines.
Waterway Access & Navigability
North Dakota's major waterways — the Missouri River, Red River (eastern border), and numerous reservoirs — provide fishing access. The Missouri River and its reservoirs (Garrison Dam/Lake Sakakawea) are managed by USACE Omaha District. Lake Sakakawea is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States.
