State Agency & Regulatory Framework
New Jersey has a high density of urban waterways with documented histories of illegal firearm disposal, making it one of the more sensitive states for magnet fishing firearm finds. The state's prohibition on magnet fishing at state-managed waterways reflects both access control and public safety concerns. Outside state parks — municipal boat launches and public fishing areas not managed by state parks — may have different rules. Delaware River access points managed by the Delaware River Basin Commission or local municipalities should be checked individually.
